An impressive debut, though his buddies at Jax Records (home of Brown Bear Music) should get Joel to decide on a style. For on the six-song tape here we have everything from sassy blue-eyed soul to moody Martin Smith-like rock worship. But no matter, Joel has bags of talent, witness the magnificent slow "Don't Let The Rain" while the funky dance toon "Into Reality" features the hot lead vocal of Eska Mtungwazi (who also pops un singing with the Jazz Art Directive in this review section) and would please sanctified dance buffs. I'm told Joel fronts the band Can't Get Over It and I'd recommend anyone to catch them or him.
