Jeremiah Cry seems to be the recording persona for US singer/songwriter Jeremiah Foley. The sound is grungy, guitar-driven with some great bass riffs especially on the opening track "All I Want", but there is lots of variety elsewhere with piano, steel and nylon acoustic taking priority at different times. Nice lyrics too: "All I want is something I can feel/All I want is something I can hold on to." In fact the whole album has the feel of a prophet lamenting in the wilderness. There is a great piano in the mix in "Calling Out", a song about - I think - calling out to God from the difficult places. "Alone" has a simple acoustic accompaniment and sounded extraordinarily like Shawn McDonald's live acoustic sound, but it's a great strong song portraying pain and sorrow but also the hope of redemption. "Maybe We Go Wrong" was for me the weakest song on the EP, straying to a more anonymous sound, but then the final track "The More Stuff" comes on strong again with its classical guitar intro and a nice funky riff under a great vocal.
