Not often that a private recording is produced by someone as notable as Audio Adrenaline's former guitar genius Barry Blair, but then it isn't every day that you have the talent of Jeanette Sullivan on your hands! The fact that she is married to AA guitarist Bob Herdman probably influenced her choice of producer too! Yet another 'Mindy's Revenge' artist, "Up And Down The River" (featured on that album) demonstrates that Jeanette knows a strong hook line when she hears one and this album is packed with vibey hooks! Taking '80s girl pop (Go Go's, Blondie) as a starting point and then mixing in plenty of "90s attitude and sounds, this ends up a compelling and startling album! 'Today" bounces with such 'Believe In You' has a lyric from the tragically underrated Michael Anderson and the sort of Blondie style powerpop kick that is immediately endearing. The yearningly atmospheric title track is a real highlight as is the album's sparse closing song "Lost In Space" which continues the cosmic viewpoint. All in all this is perfect pop and Jeanette Sullivan on the strength of this, deserves to be huge. A stronger independent debut would be hard to find and any woman who chooses to cover an icon of a song like Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Slop" has to be given a medal for bravery! Funnily enough, it works, it works!
