With a mixture of older songs like "Majesty" and some of his own compositions and with a bevy of gospel big name guests including Damita Haddon, Marvin Winans Jr, Jonathan Nelson and LaRue Howard, the Los Angeles-based singer and actor delivers and impressive live album. The album starts off with the slowish title track that gradually builds, but it's "Come Together" which heads towards the caffeine replacement/keep going at the gym end of the gospel spectrum. Until the second half of the album, where songs like "Fresh Oil" and "Safe" have their own introductions, 'Worship In The Now' doesn't always sound like a live album, save for a bit of background cheering and improvisation. Having said that, there's plenty of energy in the faster songs and the occasional audience involvement. There's a laid back version of Brooke Fraser's "Hosanna" with softer drums and keys and although there are many versions of the song, this is one of the better ones. Overall, a reasonable gospel worship set without breaking much new ground.
