James grew up in urban Chicago so was influenced by the strong gospel music scene there, but didn't start singing until at Virginia State University. Now he is writing, producing, programming and playing all the instruments on this work, with some input from guest rapper Ason and female vocalist Kyana. This is James' second album, recorded in response to being challenged at a youth revival meeting, when asked "What do saved teens listen to"? When it is easy to condemn the gangster rap lyrics that are none too polite to say the least, it is a noble thing to offer an alternative. James states rather naively and seemingly not aware of he hundreds f other holy hip-hoppers on the US scene, "Despite the style, this is still Christian music; I am not singing about guns, girls and money". He manages to blend hip-hop with urban gospel, in addition to the gospel choir styled "Oh How We Welcome You" displaying a range of influences. Although the rapping is okay if rather old skool, the backing tracks display a lack of commercial production, with drum and keyboard sounds lacking the phat boom that comes from many sub-woofers.
