The BBC1 Xtra documentary Gangs, Drill & Prayer was a true wake-up call for the Church, showing how a South London gangster rapper-turned-pastor, Enrique, could become a spiritual catalyst to lead hundreds away from the mean streets of South London and into the Kingdom of God. Part of Enrique's story is this band of extraordinary drill rappers, whose powerful trap rhythms and passionate flows are the perfect antidote to the dubious content of Britain's violence-fixated UK drill. The first verse of this gem of a single, barked by Bread, spells out the Hope Dealers' intention. "Still swerve on a opp with the word of God, still do it how I did it with deals (way way)/Just done a clean sweep with Moussa, tryna catch fish I ain't talking about tuna."

Would love to see a CR article regarding your thoughts on
Hope Dealers and Spac Nation. Perhaps even cross rhythms
listeners/readers are not ready for gospel drill! After all
it is a very niche genre.
Following the 1xtra documentary and their ‘fire in the
booth’ session I have seen quite a lot of articles in
various newspapers and media outlets, largely complimentary
but would be great to hear a Christian view point.
As well as the brilliant work Spac Nation and their
evangelists like the hole nation guys are doing saving and
reforming gang leaders and members who are exchanging their
knives for bibles it would be interesting to know CRs
balanced thoughts on the controversial approach of SPAC
nation also. I don’t mean the use or drill music and
Ballys. knowing CR you will welcome that as a great outreach
tool! I refer to the accusations of cultism and financial
malpractice/“health and wealth”.
Would also love it if you could enlighten readers as to
whether there are any other up and coming Christian drill
artists out there. In the documentary Hope Dealers said they
believe they are the only one but I am also aware of Jordy
Mankato. He is the only other one I have discovered this
far.
