The third album from this North Dakota hard rock trio after an absence of two years, this trio from North Dakota offer us an album full of variety, metal intensity and emotion. 'Give Me Rest' definitely has a metalcore feel about it, with Shane Ochsner's vocals screaming over a contempory set of rock tracks. There are driving guitars to be found and solid breakdowns, but also quieter more reflective moments, as in "Here I Am" with its harmonies and almost ambient feel. The standout aspect of this release however, is the honesty and openness of the lyrics. Beautifully reflective, the band describes struggles and their search for God. "I believe your hand holds the Sun/ but in the deepest of my mind/ I question everything you've done" is a typical example from "The Helix". The title track skilfully pulls together the album's many themes, both musically and lyrically in a seven minute epic. If you enjoy classy rock with a message to wrestle with, this release by these American rockers is likely to pull you in. Subsequent listens only underline the strength of the recording.
