This is the first official release from Flik, the previous two EPs having been media promos. 'Simple' reveals a band that is fresh and innovative, if still a little inexperienced. The opener, "Lifetaker", makes good use of the quiet/loud contrasts that were the trademark of Nirvana and all their imitators since. Throughout the first four tracks Flik maintain their rock edge and they do it well, powerful riffs and vocals delivered with commitment serve to make 'Simple' a convincing debut. The contrast of the final acoustic track, "Yours", makes for a pleasing closer and reveals a little more of the versatility that I'm sure will emerge on future releases.
