For maximum groove-orientated hard music look no further than Canadian four piece, Figure Four! Comprised of Andre Neufield (vocals), Jon Kitchen (bass), Scott Heppner (guitar) and Mike Peters (drums), Figure Four's debut release for Facedown offers an admirable, tight set; well mixed and recorded by Colin Hansen. With 11 songs at just over 24 minutes, 'No Weapons...' is a welcome sonic onslaught of brutal proportions. All four members play well together, demonstrating a high level of musicianship, resulting in a commendable blend of complex arrangements and effectively simple songs of faith and encouragement. Stand-out cuts include the progressively structured "Secure", "New Day" built around Kitchen's bass line and "Creed". My only gripe is that, though worth every penny, 'No Weapons...' is all too brief!
