This is the debut from a South African worship leader. The first leg of the journey begins with "You Overwhelm Me" - a driving bass, leading to a crunching guitar chorus twinned with evangelistic lyrics. A good song which is radio-friendly, catchy and well produced. Elsewhere "Praise The Name Of The Lord" has some excellent funky electric guitars riffing away. A pattern emerges on tracks like "I Worship You" and "Falling In Love" - the guitars inevitably chundering in for the anthemic choruses - although some rocking out on the latter does hit the spot and made me wish for an extra few minutes of creative jamming. "You Hold Me" has some pretty cool percussion and a weaving rhythmic guitar but the formula is still followed with power chords blasting through the stadium chorus. 'Journey North' reminded me a little of early U2 or Simple Minds - not necessarily a denigrating comparison, but one which does indicate a certain dated sound. "My King" shows Eugene can pull something less generic out of the bag - violins join a heartfelt pop rock song.
