Opus is a Swedish outfit offering a carefully selected range of acoustic music in the very best sound quality possible. Eric Bibb is a young, black American who specialises in that stunning national steel guitar sound. His dad Leon moved in top levels of '60s folk music in gigs with Baez, Dylan, Seeger, Odetta and such. Eric soaked it up, allied it to a deep south gospel sound and started his own brand of blues/gospel. These 15 tracks are almost all gospel, great stuff like Rev Dan Smith's "Just Keep Going On", Willie Johnson's "You're Gonna Need Somebody On Your Bond" and Odetta's "Meetin' At The Building'". Superb vocals and guitar from Mr Bibb, fine Swedish back band and The Deacons, a mighty vocal group. A wonderful recording that packs a hefty punch. The find of the year so far.
