This is Duawne's first solo, but he's already had many years experience collaborating with Richard Smallwood, Fred Hammond and Kirk Franklin. And I'd say Duawne's vocals outshine them all. He's funky, he's soulful, he's passionate and has a well rounded tone and good range. The Grammy Award winning production team of Andrew Ramsey and Shannon Sanders obviously helps too, providing varied styles and instrumentation, smooth grooves and funky rhythms, including some up to date urban influences. The backing vocal choir must also be mentioned. Not used prominently in all songs, but brought in to good effect on many of the more energetic numbers. The only criticism I can come up with is a run of too many slow songs in the middle of the CD, but otherwise it's a memorable and enjoyable listening experience, building faith and providing an opportunity for the listener to worship God. The songs are well crafted with poetic yet un-pretentious lyrics and the melodies are good for singing along to. Recommended to all gospel, urban and R&B fans and to all those who just enjoy good music, no matter what the style!
