Country music has always been a feature of Ireland's Dominic Kirwan's repertoire, either on many of his recordings or concert appearances in a career spanning well over 20 years. Having decided to record a brand new country album, Dominic has managed to avoid the temptation of adding some Irish pieces which could muddy the stylistic waters. His singing is first class while the accompaniments feature plenty of country picking on guitar, steel guitar and fiddle. Anybody who knows anything about country music in, say, the recent 30 years would be more than familiar with such major country and often top pop hits as "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World", "Hello Darlin'", "Always On My Mind", "Coward Of The County" and "Seven Spanish Angels". Are they better than the originals done by such luminaries as Charlie Rich, Conway Twitty, Willie Nelson or Kenny Rogers? Well, the answer would be no, but a lot of effort has gone into this excellent release. If you enjoy the work of the Irish crooner or fancy smoothly sung renditions of some classic country tunes, here's one to search out.
