I had not heard of Dave Morgan, but as "70s music is enjoying a fashionable phase now it was not difficult to find someone who would introduce me to the music of ELO - the hit making band of yesteryear that Dave used to belong to. Now he's saved, living in Birmingham and now turns in this 16 sting album. It has a definite acoustic "70s flavour, it is certainly not in the same arena as the Electric Light Orchestra - but maybe I am asking too much for an album without the budget or the production of a major record company. "Done It All" examines both the struggle and the security we have in knowing Jesus. "Rise And Stand" would make a good chorus in the pre-Redman/Smith style. "The Jeremiah Tree" is packed with strong imagery and speaks of God's faithfulness to Israel and to his people in difficult times. It is quite a haunting song. However, this album does need something extra to push beyond the mediocre, and I couldn't find it. Generally, the songs go quite well for about a minute but then just spin themselves out for the rest of the track without doing much at all. There is talent there, but over 16 tracks it is spread a little thinly.
