David Hadden, Director of Coventry's School Of Worship and a much loved songwriter/worship leader when the Dales Bible Week was leading the way in congregational worship here in the UK, presents a set of worship songs based around some preaching on the Life Of Christ by the late Bryn Jones. Firstly, it has to be said, this collection of songs will not win any contest on originality. The style takes its cue firmly from the MOR worship sound popularised by the late '80s Maranatha stable, just with a British slant (and a list of varied influences dotted throughout as long as your arm). But unlike its influences, the attempt to make it sound more contemporary doesn't sound quite so contrived, in fact it all fits together quite well (there is even a script available to make it into a performance, which it would lend itself to very well). The songs themselves are generally quite memorable even if they do sound dated in places while lyrically they are all sound, and the production, vocals and musicianship are reasonably well executed. "Creator And Creation", "Now All That's Left" and "Hanging There To Die" (with it's Ultravox style ending) are probably the pick of the songs.
