From the age of 25, David Bracken has dedicated his life to spreading God's word through music and testimony. 'Scale Me Down' is the Canadian's second CD, featuring five diverse songs. The EP kicks off with the title track and a rich blend of energetic drums, deep bass, atmospheric synth and layered guitars. The swingy 6/8 rhythm carries comfortably through into "Dancing With The Son", concluding the song with a blues-soul vocal. "Empty" presents more touching lyrics delivered with well constructed vocal harmonies and acoustic picking, however the duet with Chelsea Boyd on the modernised hymn "It Is Well" is the best demonstration of harmonised vocals on the disc. Although David's voice is competent enough, some of the lyrics feel a little underdeveloped in places. Colin Richet's choice of electric guitar tone is unusual, piling on the distortion for what to me feels more like a soft rock CD.
