Darrell North was retired from the FBI because he was fighting cancer. He survived, and dedicates his musical gifts to producing custom-made CDs to help those facing major illness, and those treating or supporting them. The music is designed to relax patients and take their minds off their condition. The music on this 2002 release is keyboard-led, and the flute, guitar and percussion sounds also sound like they emanate from a keyboard. Having said that, these 13 instrumentals are gently uplifting and may appeal to those who like their music gently meditative. On the downside, most of the tracks here are of a similar middling tempo, and consequently there is a certain "sameness" that makes it difficult to distinguish one piece from another. However, I imagine North is aiming for the overall mood rather than individually distinctive pieces.
