A singer from Houston, Texas, 21 year old Christin Cook has been developing a grassroots ministry in the USA. For her second album she's checked into a Nashville studio to record a collection of self-penned songs. Self assured and definitely talented, the album is packed with catchy poppy hooks and on "Keep Breathing" Christin's voice stretches into gorgeous Maria McKee territory. Other highlights include the opening edgy pop rock "I Need Your Love" which reminded me of Jeni Varnadeau. The passionate "Beyond Me" is a slower song that builds into a glorious power ballad. Visually Christin reminds me of the singer Pink, probably because she's added pink colours to her hair and she's already recorded the song "Pink" complete with its "Pink Panther" references! I like the fact that she has married brighter upbeat rocky material with the lighter textures of songs like the delicate "Sweet Nothings" and "If I had The Time". Compelling and interesting, there's plenty here that should be checked out.
