There's a wealth of good music coming out of Australia and here's a debut CD from an independent singer/songwriter who has spent the summer of 2002 in the UK. Recorded back in 1999 but still available via Chrissie's website, 'Do You Remember' still sounds fresh and it acts as a cool introduction to a 20 something with a gorgeous voice and a skill in penning memorable songs. Produced by Australian of the moment Paul Colman and featuring PC3 as the backing band, Chrissie sounds at times like a cross between Margaret Becker and Maria McKee vocally. So what stands out? Chrissie has a skill in writing songs that map out the transformation of salvation. There's the opening "I'm Coming Home" where her heart finally comes off the fence and "I Needed God" which is a gentle song of yearning. "Searching For Something" is a wonderful acoustic blues whilst the closing "When You Carried Me" is an uplifting prayerful ballad that brings things to a neat conclusion. These seven songs are an excellent introduction to Chrissie's talents.
