This is introspective alternative pop in the vein of Kate Bush or Tori Amos - deeply intelligent and powerfully atmospheric. Charlotte Martin's work is not usually associated with Christian music. Originally signed to a mainstream label together with her husband Ken Andrews, Charlotte has now launched out on her own allowing her the creative freedom to honestly explore her own style. This is a lot darker than her previous albums. For example, "Pills" is about overdosing and "Drip" about overcoming an eating disorder. Stromata is a term that refers to the structure of cells but Charlotte uses it as a metaphor for the interconnections of everything echoing how over the past year her life had fallen apart but come back together again. Though Charlotte's lyrics don't come over as overtly Christian her spirituality is sometimes very evident. Despite its subject matter, Charlotte's haunting voice and her experimental sounds make this a beautiful album.
