Cephas is a rapper from Cleveland, Ohio and this song was written to help him get out of a period of depression and suicidal thoughts. It sees him in an upbeat mood as he celebrates the fact that each day is a new day. To get his uplifting and positive message across, Cephas has gone for a great boom bap sound and lots of holler rapping and it's hard not to get swept along by the sheer enthusiasm of it all - to the extent that one can almost forgive the man's attempt to rhyme "new day" with the line "the blood of Jesus got you covered like a toupee". Seriously though, this track tells of the hope found in Jesus without ignoring the everyday problems that people face and will be of help to folks going through the kind of mental health battles that Cephas has been recently fighting and, it appears, winning.
