'Was haben wir hier', I asked myself, when I shoved this into the car CD player on my way into the studio. Carolyn is an American singer and songwriter, based in Vienna, and all the songs on this one are her work. Stylistically it's a wonderful mix of pop, rock, country and jazz, Carolyn has a very good voice, the band is excellent, production is well up to the mark, and it's difficult to find many faults - possibly one or two of the songs could be stronger musically, but I can't quibble with the sentiments expressed in the lyrics, which are soundly Scriptural and very poetic. The exchange rate between the Austrian schilling and the pound is, as I write, in the area of 23, so the price of this one works out at about £13, which is quite good value for 11 tracks and nearly 48 minutes of music. Worth a look.
