Rock'n'roll worship? Well almost. The guys from CCC Auckland certainly like to let loose here and there, in a similar fashion to that American Late Late Service album of a while back. So "Endures Forever", "Creator Of All" and "Serve You" are not afraid to worship God with a bit of edge NZ style. Over here, of course, we are extremely familiar with the concept of turning the volume up a little, and creating a Britpoppy sound for worship, so this is familiar territory if you're looking for something in that vein. Straight forward songs delivered in a no nonsense way is the best strategy to catch on, and it works. The mellower "You Keep Me" has a bit of a vibe and a great vocal from Anna Copley, and the contrast is immediate. "If I Stumble" immediately follows in the same fashion before CCC crank it up again. The closing "Rain" is a simple prayer and the song captures a gentle spirit in a beautiful fashion. Christian City Church, Auckland are certainly creating worship that is still fresh, despite the fact that this was recorded in the autumn of 1997.
