Fleetingly featured in CR43, Byron's second album takes the popular Nashville coffee bar sound of his debut and fleshes it out with a stronger band feel with very pleasing results. This selection of songs are grittier than his debut and they sparkle and flash with harsh reality. Whether Byron spits out the realisation of his own sin in "I Might As Well" or pleads the compassionate care for the life that has fallen off the rails in "Can I Drive You Home", his singing is compelling. "Rumours" is as catchy a song as you'll ever hear and has a Steven Curtis Chapman feel; "Without You" which opens the album is equally memorable with one of those annoying choruses that you hum all day! But it's moments like the gentle angst of' The Floor" and the passionate struggle to forgive in "I'm Trying" that kick this set into orbit. A song writing talent with the voice to carry it through, if you like SCC or Byron's college friends. Jars Of Clay, then this album should definitely be in your CD collection.
