Reviewed by Tony May Arlo's a member of the select "is he or isn't he?" celebrity group headed by Dylan. He professed conversion, joined some kind of monastic order and made a terrific album 'Outlasting The Blues' containing a lot of clear Christian truth. His subsequent work has avoided religious connotations in favour of a choice cross-section of earthy songs old and new, served up with great skill and loads of sheer entertainment. Often, as here on "Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream", he sounds uncannily like his dad, the legendary Woody, raw, abrasive, yet full of compassion. Songs include such gems as "City Of New Orleans", "Oklahoma Nights", "Miss The Mississippi And You" and, just for fun, "Ukelele Lady" and the traditional "Guabi Guabi". All good stuff, often with sweet, full, harmony vocals. A thoroughly enjoyable album.
