Reviewed by Trevor Kirk This album from Angie (who is the sister of BeBe, CeCe, Marvin, Carvin, Ronald and Michael Winans), is interesting musically, for the adapting of a couple of well known pop tunes to fit gospel words - "Changing My Whole Life" uses the melody of "Killing Me Softly With His Song", and "The Lord's Prayer" is "Windmills Of Your Mind" - curious! There are also a few soundscapes over which Angie recites or scat sings - and, coupled with the soft pop feel of the aforementioned, the overall effect is rather cheesy, a bit like some of the stuff CeCe used to do (is it a coincidence that Cedric Caldwell, who produced some of those offerings, and co-produced this, happens to be Angie's husband?). Soul riddims and phat beats are almost totally absent - "Let 'Em Go" has a dancey feel, but it's a nearly five minute song that repeats the same verse over and over again. Knowing the gospel heritage of the Winans family, I expected something with a lot more teeth. This is very disappointing.
