Andy is a 30-something worship leader at The Gateway Church in Kings Lynn and after a long gestation period, his debut album has finally seen the light. Citing his eclectic range of influences as including Sigur Ros and REM, Andy has been mentored by Alan Rose (of Phatfish) and Note For A Child's Daniel Goodman. This is a self-produced album on which Andy plays all the instruments himself, with the only other involvement coming from his wife Jenny, who contributes some fine vocals on a few of the tracks. Primarily about his relationship with God, these songs are mainly aimed at being used in church and most lend themselves to congregational singing, but they are catchy and contemporary in their feel, from the opening "Wake Up, Wake Up", through the gentle "Like A Treasure" to the final "Redemption Ballad". The lyrics are fairly predictable, but the music is well written and catchy, with some great playing at times (not on the drums, though, it has to be said). In truth, the pedestrian production lets the project down.

Establishing my heart is a great first CD from King's Lynn worship leader Andy King. We especially like Wake Up Wake Up
