Under the auspices of award-winning producer Scott Davis (Kutless, Jaci Velasquez), Pennsylvania's Allan Scott have released their debut EP through Davis' RadioActive Entertainment label. Billed as songs about God's redemption and grace, the band - musically influenced by the likes of Coldplay and Keane - communicate their message with energy and conviction in this four track release. The current single "Great Things" opens proceedings in pounding guitar-driven fashion and, having read about band leader Allan Scott's past life of drug abuse and prison stays followed by redemption through Christ, it's clear that this song isn't simply paying lip service to the amazing things God can do in the lives of his children. "Shine" continues in this praiseworthy vein but it is the memorable "Perfect Love (Christ Alive)" that stands out as a showcase of Scott's vocal skills and sees his bandmates rock out with no-holds barred. An acoustic version of the same song somewhat waters down its full band alter ego but this fails to take away from the fact that this is an enjoyable release from an outfit to look out for.
