This is the first new solo release by the Yorkshire-based youth leader since his 'Leave A Footprint' project in 2005. Ali worked with Mark Pierce from Stompbox Studios, York to produce this EP. He says, "I was keen to try and keep a raw feel to the songs. I think songs can be over produced and I wanted to avoid that with this recording." The songs are high on energy, reflecting the work Ali does with regional youth events. The feel is gritty and passionate. Ali's songs have some strong, catchy tunes, but Mark has added some wicked electric guitar riffs and some exciting backing vocals. I can imagine that the first song, the anthemic "We Have An Anchor", would be fantastic live; "Absolute" keeps up the energy, but with some more reflective moments. However, I was a bit bored by the remix of "The Altar" appearing as track five. Ali was a member of the Worship Academy run by Andy Bromley and Chris Bowater and he has certainly learnt what makes a good worship song.
