We have here a strange phenomenon. Word records have released two albums in 1990 by the same vocal group, the aptly named 'Acappella'. The strange thing is the fact that they vary so much in quality. 'Sweet Fellowship' contains spine-tingling stuff that makes one badly want to see this awesome quartet live. This was produced by Keith Lancaster, and he has not a small hand in writing most of the material. The track "Well On My Way" sets a high standard that the group will have no problem living up to on the evidence of this album. With thunderous bass staccato beat, the quartet move nimbly round this Keith Lancaster composition with astounding musical agility. The folksy "His Righteousness" scores high on the tingleometer, co-written by one of the four, Rodney Britt. Full use is made of individual voices that come together in heart-stopping harmonies. The quartet sing contemporary folk/early rock in the track "To Win As Many As Possible" and although sounding distinctly black, they hit a sound almost reminiscent of The Beach Boys in the following track "Answer My Prayer."
