The lavish '20' box set omitted all tracks from the 'Hymns' albums and now you know why. Here we have Hymns 1, Hymns 2 and Hymns Instrumental all together in a handsome package. I've always had my doubts about the latter, not really believing that anybody would want to listen to instrumental mixes of the two volumes of vocal versions. But I suppose Sparrow have the sales to prove otherwise. In their way Hymns 1 and 2 were important albums, taking the Jesus music veterans and finding them new 'adult inspirational' markets yet today despite some fine playing from synth man John Andrew Schriener and (on Volume 1) Phil Keaggy the arrangements are already beginning to date while the shrill harmonies on Wesley, Watts et al don't always show these hymns to their best effect. Collectors may wish to note that Vol 2 has a bonus track "O Worship The King" never previously released.
