Delirious' first album since name change; raise money for AIDs.

DELIRIOUS? hope to have their first 'church' album since changing their name from Cutting Edge in shops by the end of June. The project 'Glo' has already been recorded and is currently being mixed by American Tedd T. Three members of the band ran in the London Marathon on 16th April. Drummer Stew Smith (33), bass player Jon Thatcher (23) and lead guitarist Stu Garrard (36) ran the 26.2 mile course from Blackheath to Westminster. They were raising funds for Hope HIV - a new charity launched by Salvation Army evangelist Phil Wall that cares for and supports AIDS orphans in Africa. The aim of Delirious? is eventually to bring in £150,000 for the cause. The London Marathon initiative began when Delirious? played at the 1999 Soul Survivor festival where Phil Wall gave everyone a £10 note to invest for good causes. "We held on to our money until we had a brainwave as to how to increase it," Stew recalled. "Then we thought it would be a great idea to put it to Hope HIV." The boys had been personally moved by the story of how Africa's AIDS epidemic is leaving a generation of children without parents. They heard how Phil Wall and his wife Wendy had tried unsuccessfully to adopt an AIDS orphan - and how the couple then went on to spearhead Hope HIV.
Inspired by the Walls' story, Stew, Jon and Stu G took part in the gruelling London run and do their bit to help Africa's 10 million AIDS orphans. "Delirious? have brought so much to so many over the last few years through their great rhythms and sounds," said Phil Wall. "By running this marathon for the AIDS orphans of Africa, they're broadening their influence to a whole new world that's so desperately in need of hearing good news." CR
