Facebook campaign for Christian singer BeBe Vox

THE METHODIST minister responsible for the Facebook campaign that saw the Delirious? single "History Maker" reach number four in the Easter week pop chart has thrown his support behind the debut single by Innervation Trust artist BeBe Vox. Rev Alistair Kent wrote on his blog page, "I had no idea whatsoever that I would be organising another campaign so soon after the 'History Maker' one. Hand on heart, I genuinely thought it would be Christmas, that was, if I did anything at all. When success comes, there is often a temptation to rush ahead and repeat it too soon, but it was always my intention to celebrate what happened on Easter Sunday and leave it be, certainly for a while anyway. But as you can clearly see, this hasn't been the case! In many respects I could do without running another campaign, especially due to the fact that I'm just pioneering a new Church and trying to run a business at the same time. But I am so convinced that I have heard from God about this, that I just can't 'not' do it! And actually, because of this, it's actually not become a burden at all. I'm actually excited to see how this all develops. I'm hoping that once again we will see Christians from across the UK come together again and get behind the cause to see more Christian music in the UK charts."

Welsh-born singer BeBe Vox has been touring British schools since January this year and her "All This Time" electro pop single, featuring rapper Ad-Apt, will be released on download on the week beginning 26th April. The track is currently number seven on the Cross Rhythms playlist chart. CR

It's a disgrace! Not only is this organisation using the well deserved success of Delirious' History Maker to promote an unknown artist, the track lacks any real Christian message, the artist's bio and testimony had no mention of her faith until it was pointed out on many occasions by bemused Christians, and there is a clear divide about the nature of the project.

In my opinion, if you are going to use people's faith to make money at least give them something that will inspire them and bring them closer to God. I can't see any trace of that in the campaign. They are also crying out for people to lure their children into buying it with their messages online.

Why couldn't they use this effective marketing tool for getting the Good News to the top of the UK charts? It's a clear attempt to dupe Christians to part with their money. I am rather skeptical of the artist's testimony. It's been edited so many times it could be 5 different people now.
