Tim Finch, erstwhile West Country resident and former IT manager for the Tribe, now alive and well and living near Chester, is one of those rare breed of musicians who can take a rack of synths and keyboards and create an evocative soundscape that is ideal for chilling out at the end of a stressful day. Formerly part of an ensemble known as Finch Carey Martin Foster, who made a couple of interesting cassette albums in the early 1990s, Tim has been squirrelling away various odds and ends of tunes for the last 10 years or so, waiting for an opportune moment to dig them up and turn them into something useful, and 'Windmill' is the result. The sleevenotes are excellent in giving insight and guidance into the sound pictures the music is intended to create, and at over 44 minutes for 11 tracks, there's plenty of time to tune into the vibes, especially if you run the bonus "Balloon Flight" video track on your PC and listen to the music at the same time. If mood instrumental music is your thing, this is well worth getting hold of; even if not, this could repay investigation.
