I must say that I think there is no one who does this better. A splendid collection of songs on an album originally released in 2002 all centred on the theme of the life of the Apostle Peter - all the way from songs about him to songs from his point of view. This recording, like many of Michael Card's, really does make you think - which has got to a good thing and I had several moments of "I never thought of it like that before." Musically it's quite varied, possibly too much so with some songs working better that others, with perhaps the country-ish "Walking On The Water" being my least favourite moment. Elsewhere it's the quieter songs, centred on a simple vocal and guitar combination, that touched me, perhaps because then the music enhanced rather than distracted from the carefully considered and thoughtful words.
