Here's a home grown gem produced by none other than the music arranger for Postman Pat - honest Ed, its true! Peter Bye and his tinkling piano sure have got around. Well, here he is with another collection from the Gloria Hunniford of Christian music. Betty Lou was responsible for the sixties Youth Praise 2 classic "It Was Jesus" that began with the immortal line "Who took fish and bread". 25 years on and she's still writing as this album amply proves. The tracks mostly cover Biblical themes and the simple lyrics are doubtless well suited to her continuing ministry far east of Eastbourne in places like India. Musically, it's still in the MOR style of years gone by. But the message is timeless and the enduring quality will go down well with many of her generation, if not with Stryper fans. Maybe she has the honour of having recorded Christian music in Britain over a longer period of time than anyone else. So while the sixties heroes are long forgotten here's to your next decade, Betty Lou!

My husband Paul Rowles was friends in the Army with a Kick Smart doing National Service, he was a Scot and my husband shared the Gospel with him in the 1950s. When Jock returned from leave his wife had become born again under Eric Hutchings. We do wonder whether Jock ever accepted the Lord as he was posted away from my husband.

I loved hearing her sing year after year at the Family Camp at Hollybush Christian Fellowship, particularly when she sang "Down from his glory" along with "Cynthia Wilkinson." I can still hear it decades later.

Please can you give me an email address for Betty Lou Mills and her husband Russell. Many years ago I babysat their children while they attended crusades in England and would love to contact them. Thanks

Hi Jonathan, I greet you from Durban where you stayed with us for the duration of the Durban crusade in the 1959's.
How are you all? We lost touch some time ago.
God Bless!

I recall back in the distant past, the Torbay Youth for Christ organising a 'Singspiration' rally in the Palace Theater, Paignton. I can't remember who the spaeker was, but he was a well kown British evangelist. We had a couple of local singing acts and Betty Lou Mills as our 'top of the bill.'
What a wonderful, humble lady and a fantastic singer. Have not heard of her since then until I played a download a few minutes ago.
Ah, the memories.

I received the baptism in The Holy Spirit at Eric Hutchins crusade in Ewell Surrey in 1971. Could anyone give me exact dates for this crusade. Doreen Ervine gave her testemony on the closing night of the crusade.
Thanks for any help.
