I heard them singing at a church in Port Erin in 1968. I reckon think of tomorrow was one of the most memorable songs i've ever heard. A friend of mine who was there was inspired to form his own 'water into wine' band who wrote stranger to myself another great song of that time

Hi Glorylanders, great to hear you are still alive & kicking. The message still needs to get out there, I still remember the good times we played to-gether.
hope you are well. Bill; I saw Ann & Dave a few weeks ago at my son's wedding. I am now in Norwich, still playing in worship band at my church.

just stumbled across this blog while searching for Glorylanders music. No one remembers you? Far from it probably. The first time I saw you must have been 1969ish
at Forton Service Station on the M6 near Lancaster. I was with 2 school friends who were both Christians, and the whole atmosphere of the evening overwhelmed me so much, that I became a Christian. Your music overwhelmed me, and made me want to learn guitar which I did (within 6 months of picking up a guitar I was playing in a gospel folk group as we tended to be called in those days, also playing one or two of your songs), and 45 years later I'm still going strong (the music has , however, changed). The belief has suffered over the years, but I've never completely rejected Jesus. Neglected may be nearer to the truth (for want of a better description). Unfortunately I no longer have any Glorylanders music (hence the search). I had Volume 1, but that got left behind when my first wife and I separated. I can still play 1 or 2 songs from it at a push, though. I'll continue to look for possibilities to acquire recordings of your music. Even MP3's would be much better than nothing.
Your group was the start to my really wanting to learn to play guitar. Today I can say that I am a pretty accomplished player and am grateful for the gift of music. Without Glorylanders, this would probably never have happened. Thank you.

I remember the Glorylanders. I was a member St Luke's church Cheetham hill but I lived in Moston and had to pass Christchurch Harpurhey every Sunday. I was also a member of the Catacombs Christian Coffee Bar in Back George Street, Manchester. I'm sure many will remember the wonderful outreach this facility provided and the love and fellowship shared there.

Hi Norma, Thanks for your comment about the Glorylanders. I was one of them....the lesser one in the middle. It was a privalige to sing with the group, and thank you for remembering us,,God bless. Ps we are all still alive (I think(smiley))

Ian, what's all this about a 17th reunion? Surely you can get Arthur to agree on an appropriate day whether it's a full moon or not! As for him acquiring a right handed guitar, is he going to play it left or right-handed? These are things we need to know. Come on lads (!) get your act together .... again!!!

Its been a real privilege to read all these posts about our long time hibernating group. I’ve spoken recently to Art about a 17th reunion, but apparently he can only sing in tune on a full or new moon! Personally I could rarely sing in tune on any day!
As noted, Peter Paul & (Mary…sad) were our, or maybe, my source of inspiration. I saw Bill about 6 weeks ago (no bass in hand!). Arthur and Sally will be passing through Manchester in August 2010, and I have threatened to appear with my guitar, thinks…. (Must get some new strings!) Art has now acquired a right handed guitar in order to confuse me! Ill have to stand on the left side. If England win the World Cup ill drag Art and Bill out of retirement!!!!!!!!!

Found this blog simply by accident, I enjoyed reading the comments and I have many fond memories of listening to the Glorylanders, both live and on vinyl, lots of memories of sitting with Arthur as he taught me how to play guitar. Would love to get back in touch with Arthur, Ian and Alan Keefe.

How amazing to find this blog! I listened to the Glorylanders in Newcastle in the early 70s and have never forgotten them. In fact, I have all three albums on my iPod now after a lot of technical fiddling about and listen to them for many miles while driving for work!! It is good to know they are still OK - they may be assured they are still reaching people through music!!

I was with Bill during last week and he mentioned the blog on Cross rhythms. I am amazed to see the many bloggers I know.I became a Christian in the coffee bar era and the influence of the Glorylanders was significant for me. I was in Bill Simmons fellowship group from the same church. Ian Arthur and Bill were very much a part of my early Christian walk. The influence of the Christian message in Christian music and the influence and encouragement of other friends ... Mark Simmons and Pete Howard mentioned in the blog helped me to develop as a Christian Thanks to all who were around to show this style of "Jesus Music". I remain very supportive of reaching people through music. I have been a Cross Rhythms trustee since 1996 and share the role of Chairman of Cross rhythms Board. I am so exited by the CR web site being well used by Glorylander connections . We do connect and support Christians, but its primary goal is to reach the Youth through Christian music... Many Thanks to all the Godly people who were encouraged in their faith by the Glorylanders and the many other "groups" who emerged in the 60s and 70s. PS The original Cedric ( double bass) is owned and stored still by me. It made a good few stage appearances with The Navigators ( from Rochdale) and Springwater from Chadderton ( with Mark Simmons Pete Howard Alan and Ria Jones. One of the things that we trustees do is take every opportunity to invite our friends to consider supporting Cross Rhythms by giving. It would be great if I could encourage you to support financially. We now have an amazing outreach but we do this on shoe string budget. If you want to get involved in anyway please contact me through the Cross Rhythms office

I sang with a trio at several meetings with the Glorylanders. We were the Heysham Crusaders---Lyn, Pat and Beryl. Does anyone remember us? I have great memories of the Glorylanders.
