Comment:	recent Israeli attacks on the Gaza strip: more than a week without water, electricity, unable to go to work or school, with little to eat, suffering sonic boom attacks from israeli jets traumatising children and the vulnerable. Indiscriminate retaliation in the form of collective civilian punishment for what was in effect the kidnapping of a combatant in a zone of war: Is the systematic strangling of Palestinian liberties and their land, the terrorising of children, mothers and the elderly by one state's military the appropriate way to oppose the fanatical radicalism of a few?
