You may have heard that Tom Laing-Reilly was found dead on 21 April 2010. The funeral has been confirmed as taking place on Thursday 6 May. It is a great loss for the Edinburgh organ scene, as he was a consummate player, and in personal dealings (having four times been a guest soloist in the lunch-hour recital series that he organized during the Edinburgh International Festival) I found him a very congenial colleague. As yet there are no references on the Internet (church Website or otherwise) to his passing, but he was known to be quite reclusive, and I suspect was subject to spasms of depression - not uncommon among fine artists - that may have been an underlying factor. RIP – he has a fine memorial in the CD of the St. Cuthbert’s organ that was issued a couple of years back, that is the subject of your review. Best regards Douglas Bruce
