My research paper just got a whole lot better about the group "America" after reading this article on Dan Peeks. I also have been moved by America's songs, Ventura Highway, Musckrat Love, Sand Man, Horse With no name, are the ones that I identify with. Not only was their music moving but their performances, which I relate to by a performance, with 3 guys in a bar, in Estes Park Co. in 1971, who when asked said they weren't some band named America, they just played their music better than the actuall band does? I was 14 years old then, and yes I was in a bar, but I was a paying customer, so they couldn't kick me out, it was an experience Iv'e never forgotten, because of my age, but also due to alcohol consumption, the pitchers of beer were flowing fast! I'm 53 now, no more pitchers of beer, and trying to better educate myself, which I feel I will be doing by pursuing this topic, America then and America now, the band!
