Comment:	It is great that people in Israel are coming to Lord and that people are working for peace in the Middle East. But there is a very good case for these words to be read as prophecies about the Church. There is a danger in Christian’s seeing the modern state of Israel as a fulfilment of such prophecies. Not only do they miss the real application of these words but politically it leads to Westerners uncritically supporting the state Israel. A book that is highly recommended on this subject is Stephen Sizer’s ‘Christian Zionism: Road-Map to Armageddon?’ You can also download his most recent talk on this from the Greenbelt site.
