I think that people just need to see evidence of repentance and humility in Kevin's life. I was raped and abused and stalked by a guy on the worship team at my old church. When I finally had the courage to disclose this information, I was strongly urged to keep it quiet "because it could really damage [his] career". I have forgiven this person, but it is hurtful and scary to me to see his carreer as a music pastor flourishing with little to no consequences. If someone is not disciplined appropriately, the potential to commit the same sin - with greater consequences - exists. How much more hurtful/devastating for this man's poor wife will it be if/when he sins again in kind? I'm not saying we have to judge or condemn him, but to turn a blind eye to a sin that has very real and longlasting consequences for the victim, is reprehensably irresponsible. God forgives and remember our sin no more when we are truly repentant, but that does not mean that the consequences of your actions in spacetime magically disappear. Real repentance ultimately means doing right by the person(s) you sinned against...[and who wants to do that??] I'm not saying that God doesn't use broken, sinful people in mighty ways. But the real heart of the issue is repentance and restitution. Even if you have a public ministry and you commit a sin in your private life that has painful sequellae for other person(s), you need to make it right, and for the sake of your public ministry do some public act of genuine humility/contrition. I'm not speaking specifically to Kevin or to "a man like Kevin", but to anyone in public ministry who sins in this kind. The credibility of your ministry may depend on it, and that's a very scary thought. Christ is risen
