i am female, but i can relate to your story. i was abused like you, but was told that my pain was insignificant when i tried to get help. Years later, i was beginning to work through the pain, but i would keep crying in church. i go to a good church, but one day an elder just snapped at me to "stop crying." i felt devastated. i forgave the man, but i still struggle to believe that my pain over being abused really mattered, and that its ok for me to cry about it.
