When I first looked at this CD I was not sure what to expect, three teenagers recording a charity CD to raise funds for Tearfund - a great idea but do great intentions produce good music? Sadly not always so, but in this case I was pleasantly surprised. 'Rhythms Of Hope' was inspired by a trip to Kenya by the mother of two of the children, Belinda Chapple, who after talking about the trip to her children, the inspiration for the CD followed. With the help of friend Gemma, this album was born. The children Samuel (electric piano), Ruth (clarinet) and Gemma (percussion) are the only musicians on the recording resulting in a uncluttered rendition of worship instrumentals written by the likes of Matt Redman and Graham Kendrick. The only weakness is Handel's "Thine Be The Glory" which sounds a little pre-programmed though I understand it was manually played. However it was achieved, it sounds out of place on this hymn and the excellent standard elsewhere.
