In the recent rush to requisition all things Celtic to enhance worship, a corner of the old Celtic world has been much neglected this side of The Channel - Brittany. This excellent set of worship songs by young Rennes-based Breton singer/songwriter Yannick begins to help redress the balance. To the usual battery of bhodrans and fiddles is added the cornemuse (Breton bagpipes) and bouzouki. The songs are all sung in French (not Breton, fortunately) and express something of the wonder of the singer at the beauty of creation and the depth of God's grace (hence the title track). There are some tracks that make you want to get up and dance ("Sens Unique") and several that are more reflective ("Jésus" and "Saint Saint Saint"). With a couple of good instrumentals ("Fille de Sion" and "Bretagne") this makes a pretty good debut. Who knows, it may even open the door to some more French Christian music crossing to our shores.
