More recently appearing as part of Camp Quest, this solo release is an eclectic mix of soul, funk, blues and even country. The beats are tight, the samples and hooks are often innovative and Xodus can rhyme up there with the best of 'em. But, many tracks didn't quite gel for me, often getting a bit monotonous, despite the obvious talent displayed elsewhere on the CD. However, hats off to the man for cuts like "Animated", utilizing infectious beats, stonking bass and mad xylophonics. "Brainstorms" is a cool number to cruise to, backed by a slick jazz loop, lovely. And finally, rap meets country without fighting in the feel good "Southern Like".
