I never cease to be amazed by Willie. There are many tracks by him that bore me to tears, yet knowing how many albums he's sold in the last twenty years I am in a minority! Knowing absolutely nothing about this 1986 album, now being distributed here by Anfield Music, I sat down literally gobsmacked! With sister Bobbie on piano, the purity and feeling in beautiful renditions of "Just a little walk with Jesus", "I'll Fly Away" and a superlative "Lily Of The Valley" is difficult to describe. The man is a complete enigma, a catalogue of personal disasters, failed marriages etc. Yet his original Nashville breakthrough came with "The Family Bible", a country hit he signed away for a few dollars because he was so hard up! Yet seeing him perform "Amazing Grace" at Wembley last year with that stunning guitar work was an experience. I like Willie not drowned out with strings, and with just the very minimum of backing, Willie's fine singing is enhanced. This is a really good album that deserves a wide circulation. Highly recommended.
