Down the years Bedfordshire-based Will has clocked up considerable experience and his fair share of plaudits, one critic even suggesting he was "Britain's answer to John Legend." Such comparison with the Grammy-winning hitmaker may be a bit OTT but there's no denying that Will, who once led worship at New Wine, is an excellent singer with more than a bit of soul in his pop stylings. 'Run This Race' was actually released in 2012. Several different producers were involved with Laurence Hobbs giving Will a lightly funky groove on the opener "Head Over Heals" and James Erskine offering a more pop-based approach on songs like "Run Before I Drown" and "Falling Into You". The latter shows Will's skill with poetic imagery ("Everlasting is your love/Wings of peace spread like a dove") though sometimes they're enigmatic and rather strange (like on "Scarecrow"). But the strong melodies and appealing vocals make 'Run This Race' a pretty impressive self-financed set.
