Regular Cross Rhythms radio listeners will know that we've been supporting the folk singing trio from Devon for a while now, and their songs "Steady My Heart" and "Take A Hold", from their 2017 independent album 'Turning Tides', made it to the Cross Rhythms playlist. Now this most gifted of groups have hit the big time (kind of) and been signed to music giant Sony. It was a little disappointing that Sony launched Beth, Emilie and Meghann with an EP of cover versions when they released 'Voices Of Equilibrium' in November 2018. But there's no doubting they do wonderful things with the songs originally by Tracy Chapman, Foo Fighters, Robyn and Stevie Wonder. Stevie's "Higher Ground" funky R&B classic is given a Delta-blues vibe while Chapman's "Talkin' Bout A Revolution" seminal hit has never sounded better. The lyrics of the latter could almost apply to the folk pop trio's upward trajectory, "Talkin' 'bout a revolution/It sounds like a whisper/Poor people gonna rise up/And get their share/Poor people gonna rise up/And take what's theirs."
