The second album from the West Midlands-based singer/songwriter continues where the first left off with well written songs that have something to say. Wes has taken nearly a year working on this album and it shows with well arranged and produced songs. Wes covers a fair few styles opening with the reggae feel of "Please Stay" before moving to rock with "Time's Running Out" and then country with "One Road". They all work well together and the production is consistent across then all. The vocal style is quite distinctive, an almost spoken delivery that is reminiscent of Mark Knopfler and Dire Straights at times, and is taken to extremes with "Handshakes In The Dark" where the verse is spoken poetry over a ethereal synth backing moving to an almost gospel chorus and works well. While there are still some rough edges that could be ironed out with a big budget this is still an appealing little album.
